HBO Max released a new trailer for their upcoming documentary on Action Park, a New Jersey theme park that claimed the lives of six people.
A new documentary called Class Action Park, about the infamous Action Park in New Jersey, has finally released a trailer. Though there have been plenty of news stories about various ride malfunctions (like the recent Splash Mountain breakdown), Action Park’s dangerous rides were in a league all their own. During its operation, Action Park was home to several malfunctioning and dangerous rides, which ultimately led to the deaths of six people and many more injuries.
HBO Max announced the project earlier this week with a trailer that frames the story of Action Park as a true crime genre. Though many different historians and theme park enthusiasts have chronicled the events of Action Park’s downfall, this will be the first feature-length documentary to examine the park. Various clips from the documentary illustrate the criminal nature of the park and the many dangers it contained. The video description of the trailer on YouTube also promises that the documentary will include never-before-seen footage of Action Park, as well as original animated sequences and original music from The Holladay Brothers. You can view the whole trailer below.
This new project comes at a time when theme park safety is at the top of people’s minds, with major parks like Disney World attempting to provide a safe environment in the middle of a global pandemic. The documentary will likely cause viewers to rethink how they can engage with theme parks while still staying safe, which is especially relevant to our current environment. Class Action Park comes out on HBO Max on Thursday, August 27th.
